Honest insights into freelance artist struggles and how to survive the chaos

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME...
Hello! Name's Lu, I’m an experienced graphic designer and 2D digital artist from Italy, now living in London while balancing my part-time job with the wonderfully messy life of being an artist.
I’ve done a bit of everything in my life: digital and print design, editorial work, photo retouching and photomanipulations - but, as you can see, my heart belongs to digital illustration. Ferals, fantasy creatures, nature-inspired and dreamy landscapes are right up my alley!
Outside of work? I’m an animal lover without a pet (tragic, I know) and a foodie. Oh, and a shameless, nerdy open-world fantasy gamer.
Like any self-respecting Italian, I can’t properly function without eating pasta at least once a day. I consider myself a bit of an introverted, but I can be pretty much approachable and friendly, always helping out fellow artists whenever I can.
This isn’t about showing off just another hyped-up guide. Nope. It’s about the real, messy, chaotic (and often absurd) life of a freelance artist.
I decided to start this blog because I got fed up of seeing all the fluff, the overly-polished success stories everywhere around me, all those "just post 15 times per second on IG and boom, you’re a pro!" nonsense. Remember those talented artists you used to follow since forever? Now they’re social media gurus, and their biggest creation is a $ 999 course that apparently turns your life into a masterpiece overnight.
But here’s my deal. You want to know what really means to be an artist nowadays? Help yourself, come join the club.
I will share with you the most relatable stuff, along with interesting POV and tips on how to manage the whole thing: unpaid and outrageous work proposals, dealing with clients changing their mind a hundred times, commission files disappearing right before a delivery, the social fatigue from constantly having to create content just to stay visible online...
Expect honest, practical, and occasionally hilarious insights into freelance life, and a good amount of helpful suggestions that will turn your struggles into something you can overcome and learn from! ❤️
